Recently there’s one question that stands out more and more frequently to me. It’s a question that is asked almost anytime I tell a business owner that we specialize in building a company’s online presence through content marketing. That question? “Why should we use content marketing?” Each time, I go through the uses for content marketing and how it will help their specific situation.

This week, however, I was told “I don’t have time to go through the entire pitch. What are the top three reasons someone might use content marketing?” That got me thinking about the possibility to turn that answer into a blog post so here it is.

    Anyone who has taken courses on building a business knows from the moment you start planning the business, you’re building the brand. The question of how big your brand becomes and what people think of your brand depends entirely upon how you build your brand.

    When you use content marketing to build your brand, you help those unfamiliar with you become familiar. Those who don’t know anything about your company or why you do what you do start to understand who you are and why you do what you do. All part of building your brand.

  2. Attract New Customers

    Simply put, more quality content equals more customers. The more content you have, the more easily your site can be found for different keywords. Also, the more content you add on a regular schedule means the higher you’ll rank on search engine results pages.

    Not to mention, the more you write about what you do and how you do it, the more prospective customers like you, know you, and trust you. Anyone who talks to me about business knows that is my mantra about growing your business: get them to know you, like you, and trust you. If you do that, they’ll buy from you.

    Well, if you consistently write good, quality content that allows them to do all those things, it will attract them to use your services or buy your products.

  3. Increase Domain Authority

    One of the best ways to grow and maintain your presence online is to increase your domain authority. Only part of this is to create the content. In order to increase your domain authority, the content has to be good, quality content that others will want to reference.

    Think of this as an online popularity contest. The more links to your domain from others, the higher your domain authority.
